Hunter Muskett to play on Saturday 4th August

We are delighted and excited to announce that the talented Hunter Muskett will be our guests on the evening of Saturday 4th August 2018 at the George Hotel, Leadenham.

As well as a precursor to the Day of Lincolnshire Folk Music Song and Dance the group will be performing on the Day of Folk on Sunday 5th August 2018.

Chris George, Terry Hiscock and Doug Mortimer originally formed Hunter Muskett in 1969 while still at college. In those early days, the band were lucky to have access to the clubs and colleges of London, including The Marquee and The Troubadour where they were finally spotted.

Within a year they were signed by Decca producer Kim Margolis and booked into the company's West Hampstead studios.

Hunter Muskett's first album 'Every Time You Move' was released in October 1970 on vinyl only. With the group finishing their college studies they went full-time and toured continuously around the UK and on the continent for the next three years.

With the demise of Decca Nova, the band became part of the new Bradley's label for a second album titled 'Hunter Muskett' which was released in March 1973.

Within a year Bradleys had changed direction, off-loading all of their existing acts and signed up The Goodies, which mean't that there would be no follow-up album.

It looked like this was the beginning of the end for Muskett who finally called it a day in mid-74, returning from Holland and Belgium to perform their last show at The Brunswick in Preston.

In 2010, the four Musketteers decided to meet up again for the first time is 30 years for a one-off performance at The Aspinall Arms near Clitheroe which led to new dates, new songs and a third album.

With new songs entering the set a fourth album was recorded at Spencer Cozens' Steinway Studio in Fulbeck, Lincolnshire.

Recording started in the autumn of 2015 and was completed a year later for release in early 2017 and the album was titled 'Unafraid and Sober'.

The group are continuing to tour and the rest, as they say, is history.
